Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

Can you discern a difference between McTrolls and PUMAs? They're both trying to achieve the same end.

At least getting a dog is a pander that no one can be offended by.  Unless he grants it immunity from prosecution for doing its business on the sidewalk

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

It worked well for Bill Clinton... remember him getting a dog after MonicaGate?  The press was all over that!

Will Obama and Hillary miss the (none / 0)

FISA votes?  They are going to be together tomorrow in NYC raising money for each other; I suppose Obama airlines can get them from NYC to DC fairly quickly.  Forget about McCain showing up; he's already long gone.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

obama needs a siamese cat :). not politically speaking, it'd backfire big time, but to keep him level/knock him down a peg.  no creature is more elitest than a siamese cat(speaking as a food dispenser of three)

That's it, I'm not voting for him! (none / 0)

First, he didn't vote the way I would have liked over FISA, and now you tell me he doesn't own a pet? I'm staying home in November </snark>

Obama WINS Iraq withdrawl issue!

I'm surprised so little attention is being paid to the fact that McBush just took a fatal body blow to his "100 year" position on Iraq.

Re: Pop the corks! (none / 0)

you talking about on here or in the MSM?  I was bored tonight so I watched most of the nightly news shows and they all spent a lot of time on it.

As to why no one is talking about it much here...your guess is as good as mine.

Dude, I finally understand Aaron Sorkin's Sports Night. It's a comedy that's too good to be funny.

Hooray for John McCain!

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

What do you say when people you know on a casual level tell you that they are going to be deployed with their reserve troops to Afghanistan?  Last week both the UPS driver and the postman who deliver to the company I work for told us they were being deployed in the next month.  I know them in that I have seen them every day for the past year - they came to our company BBQ, etc.  What I wanted to say is "that fucking sucks, I am so sorry" but is that appropriate?  I don't know if they would be offended or they would agree.  It's obviously a touchy subject.  These are both men in their 30's with families.

I know it sounds dumb but I really struggled with a response.  I ended up just saying "we will miss you.  please be safe" but I know I sounded like a robot when I said that.

I fully understand your struggle. There's not much more you could say given the circumstances.
